It is made with semolina and flour. Some eateries also offer coconut toppings for a unique flavor. A chickpea preparation, it is best consumed with a hearty Naan or Paratha. The Peshwari version is drier in texture, while the Amritsari counterpart is an out-and-out gravy dish. The spices may also differ in some cases.
